Music Teacher- Part time

|Description:||Ability to instruct participants in music applications, both theory (if possible) and practice. The music instructor will be responsible for teaching beginners level Latina teens, ages 12 – 17, in varied instruments or one particular instrument such as the Cello, Viola, Violin and Bass in a group and individual setting. Must be able to develop an appropriate curriculum and help prepare the students for public performances. Lessons will take place in the late afternoon/early evening and Saturdays. Spanish speaking a plus but not required. In addition, the candidate will be required to assess participants’ abilities, provide feedback to Program Director and write progress notes.|
|Duties:||1. Develop age-appropriate lesson plans;|
2. Conduct group and individual lessons;
3. Work with program staff, including the program coordinator and creative arts therapists to ensure that the goals of participants are being met;
4. Help prepare the students for public performances including holiday concerts and annual Comunilife Anniversary Breakfast in October/November.
|Qualifications:|| Previous teaching experience in the instruction of varied instruments noted above but we are open to someone experienced in one of the above mentioned instruments.|
 Patience for students with no music background
 Ability to relate to sensitive adolescent girls
 Knowledge of musical styles.
 Ability to see student´s weak and strong points
 Motivate participants and encourage progress
Physical Demands 15 hours a week within hours listed, Mon thru Friday from 3:30pm – 7:30pm and Sat 9:00am – 2:00pm
