Food Handler PT - DR II (Brooklyn)

Description:Responsible for the receiving, storing, serving food to residents and maintaining a clean environment for a congregate housing facility for people living with HIV/AIDS, severe and persistent mental illness, and substance abuse. Required to cover dinner, including weekends. Other responsibilities include working harmoniously with Comunilife Program staff in accordance with Comunilife principles and guidelines.
Duties:Including and not limited to the following:

- Receive the delivery of meals.
- Maintain and check temp in refrigerators and warming trays
- Serve residentsí meals
- Clean dining room and service areas
- Prepare and provide snacks
- Maintain inventory
Qualifications:Minimum requirements include Qualifying Certificate in Food Protection, given by The City of NY, DOH 15 hour training course in Food Protection. Prefer a High School/GED diploma with at least one year of experience in food handling, or healthcare field. Experience with HIV/AIDS afflicted individuals, chronic mental illness, substance abuse individuals, a plus. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

Physical Demands
Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-20 pounds).


Certifications & Licenses Required:

City of New York, Dept of Health & Mental Hygiene, Qualifying Certificate in Food Protection. Prefer High School/GED diploma.

Current annual PPD (Tuberculosis) Exam Required.
